David Howe
BEng(Aero), MEng(Aero) AVT Director / Engineer
David Howe completed his Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1994. In 1994 David worked for ASTA Aircraft Services designing repairs for Boeing aircraft. During 1995 he provided air combat system modeling contract support for the Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO). In 1998 he completed a Masters in Aerospace Engineering, collaborating with DSTO in the area of inverse aircraft loads estimation using optimisation and finite element modeling techniques. In January 1998 David returned to DSTO as a contractor where he has since been extensively involved in the dynamic modeling of the interaction between helicopters and ships. David has also been involved in helicopter simulation fidelity assessment using ADS33 handling qualities criteria and has been involved in the development of the Hammerhead VTOL UAV. In recent times he has gained experience in the development of ship simulation models. In November 1998 David also founded the company now known as Advanced VTOL Technologies Pty Ltd (AVT). As well as providing support to the ADF he has been engaged to help assess helicopter-ship operating limits and other dynamic interface issues for the New Zealand, Swedish and Danish navies.
Lyndon Caine
BEng(Aero) Test Pilot / Engineer
Lyndon Caine completed his Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1993. In 1994 Lyndon began service in the RAAF as a pilot going on to fly the F/A-18. In 2001 he completed Test Pilot School at the Empire Test Pilot School in the UK. Lyndon went on to manage various ADF projects and test flew various aircraft and weapon systems at the RAAF’s Aircraft Research and Development Unit before returning to an F/A-18 Squadron as a Flight Commander in 2004. Since 2003 Lyndon has been involved in the development of the Hammerhead VTOL UAV. In 2007 Lyndon provided engineering support for the modelling of helicopters on ship decks for DSTO. In 2007 Lyndon commenced flying for Cathay.
