Helicopter - Ship Dynamic Interface Simulation
Since 1988 AVT has specialised in the analysis of the dynamic response of helicopters on ships.
AV^T has conducted the following types of analysis over the last 11 years:
- Ship Limit Analysis for unrestrained and restrained helicopters to maximise operational capability
- Clearance studies (during landing and whilst on deck)
- Landing loads and dynamic response analysis
- Lashing scheme optimisation to ensure uniform load sharing for a wide range of conditions
- Simulated fatigue analysis to assess service life
- Development of the Maritime Helicopter Aid (MHA) (Current Research)
- Ship motion analysis in various sea states using ShipmoPC
- Experience with anti roll tanks and active fins
- ADS 33 Handling Helicopter qualities assessment of simulation models against flight test data
- Software design
Our engineers have the following professional experience:
- Aerodynamic analysis and aircraft loads prediction
- Structural analysis (FEM)
- ADS 33 handling qualites analysis
- Optimisation
- Dynamic anlaysis
- Composite design and analysis
- Extensive software engineering skills
- Engine Design and Thermodynamics
- Extensive CAD model development
- Both fixed wing and helicopter test pilot experience
Contract services
Since 1998 AVT has provided some 30 skilled personnel to the Australian Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) in the areas of:
- Aerospace Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Software Engineering
- Human Factors
Hammerhead VTOL UAV Development
Since 2003 AVT has been conducting research towards the development of a unique VTOL UAV and has gained considerable insight into the attributes of the system. Having realised the system requirements to achieve the required preliminary handling quaiites, effort is now being directed into optimising the design and minimising weight.
